NEUROPSYCHOLOGY

Understanding how the brain works to better support cognitive, emotional, and academic difficulties
Neuropsychology studies the links between the brain, cognitive functions, and behavior.
It allows us to better understand how we focus our attention, learn, memorize, plan our actions, regulate our emotions and interact with our environment.
In children, adolescents, or adults, certain difficulties may arise when these functions do not develop or do not function as expected.
Neuropsychology then helps to identify the difficulties, but also the resources on which to build.

When to consult a doctor?

A consultation may be helpful when you or your child presents with:

difficulties staying focused;

Executive functions

School learning

ADHD

Memory and cognition.

A neuroscience-based approach

My background as a neuroscientist and Emeritus Research Director at the CNRS allows me to address cognitive difficulties in light of current knowledge about brain function.
The goal is not just to establish a cognitive profile.
It is also about understanding how attentional, emotional, and relational capacities interact in daily life.

Attention

Understanding how the brain selects and maintains relevant information.

Memory

Working memory, learning and memorization in everyday life.

Executive functions

Organization, planning, inhibition, time management, and mental flexibility.

Dyslexia and Dyspraxia Disorders

Dyslexia, dysorthography, dyscalculia and other learning disorders.

Neuropsychology, emotions and presence

The brain never develops completely on its own.
Cognitive functions are built within a relational, school and family environment.
Difficulties with attention, emotional regulation, or learning cannot be understood solely through performance observed during a test.
They must also be placed in the broader context of development, life experience, and interactions with others.
This perspective is part of the work I am developing within the project The Brain of Presence, dedicated to the study of how the presence of others influences the functioning of the brain.
